- Balance, Flexibility, Strength (0) October 9, 2013
Three of the most important skills any dancer should have are balance, flexibility and strength. Balance comes from your core. The stronger your core, the greater your balance. Flexibility comes from stretching and strength comes from resistance. As you practice at home, make time to include a mini workout that incorporates these three elements. You will be well on your way to becoming a strong, flexible and balanced dancer.
- Moving Forward (0) October 8, 2013
In life we are sometimes bombarded with challenges and obstacles. They can be so bothersome that we can lose focus of what we were called to do. Actually the challenges were designed to do just that. It seems that the more we tend to press into the will of God, the harder the struggle. It seems attacks will come from every direction in the very area you are pursuing God’s perfect will. If you are seeking peace and unity, division and confusion comes at you. But this battle is the Lords. And if we stop to engage directly, not only do we risk being consumed with bitterness, anger and frustration, we will fail in receiving the victory that has already been won for us. Remember our fight is not with flesh and blood, so our weapons must be those given by God. We fight in prayer and praise and with love. We pull down strongholds in the spirit. We press forward into the things God has set before us, and like Nehemiah, we refuse to come off the wall to engage in foolishness. We trust God and keep moving forward. I am determined to receive the promises God has for me, and to accomplish His good pleasure for my life.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
7 But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it will be evident that such overwhelming power comes from God and not from us. 8 We have all kinds of troubles, but we are not crushed; we are perplexed, yet not in despair; 9 persecuted, yet not abandoned; knocked down, yet not destroyed.

There is an interesting debate in the praise dance world about skill levels and formal ballet dance training. There are those who reject ballet training, as being too stagnant, and uptight and those who embrace it. Passion, seems to be replacing skill and training, when not so many years ago, in the professional dance world things were just the opposite. But if we love and serve God, is not every yielded gift to Him a praise? Even the terminology we use is divisive. If there is ballet training involved, then it’s called lyrical dance, and everything else is called praise dance. Skills are things we all can acquire, not a place for division. Formal ballet is definitely nothing to fear or be jealous of. We should apply ourselves to offer God our very best praise regardless of dance style. Whether we can do a perfect pirouette, or walk in a handstand, we are doing this, offering our gift, so that God’s glory can shine through us.

God will actually do what He says He will do. God is trust worthy, keeping His word perfectly. He is always with us, revealing the truth to us, and teaching our hands to war and our feet to dance. Resting in His will, actively praising His name and pursuing His righteousness, for He is worthy, deserving our very best praise, which opens the door for favor to follow.

Jesus tells a parable,
Mark 4:14-20 KJV
The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
