  • The Goodness Of God: Psalm 8 (0) August 26, 2013
    Psalm 8 (KJV)

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

    Psalm 150:1-6  (KJV)

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

  • Bring God Your Best (0) August 24, 2013

There are times when giving your best means giving all that you have, whether it is a little, like in the case where a widow offered her last bit of change to honor God, or much like when Jesus Christ offered up His life to pay for ours. Mostly however it means preparing your hearts with joy and offering your gift to God. How that looks is really between you and God. Maybe it is by having an attitude of praise and deliberation, maybe it is in the packaging, posture or presentation. Always in all ways bring God your best.

  • Especially For You (0) August 23, 2013

We can focus so much on ministry and ministering that we can often lose sight of how important each dancer is individually. I think it is as important to say point your toes as it is to ask how are you today, and to really listen to the truth in their answer. While ministering is mostly about pouring out and yielding ourselves to be used by God for others, and about worshiping The Lord Our God and Heavenly Father, it is also about us. God is concerned about every detail of our lives, and He cares. It is why He tells us to cast the whole of our care onto Him. He cares for us. And we as His people, His children, the Body of His beloved Son Jesus Christ, ought also to care one for another. To that end, fellowship, outside of rehearsals and ministry, can serve to strengthen a group and bring balance to its members.

Ok so this song has been playing in my mind for about a week now, so I am finally going to share the joy. May you “Celebrate” the goodness of Jesus!

May you bask in the glorious day of the Lord. Sing praises to Our King. Spread His love far and wide and close.

For as long as I can remember, I have danced with my glasses off. I do not wear contacts, though I do have them. This is something I do purposely. Recently one of the younger dancers made a comment about being nervous ministering, and I shared my “secret” with her. I am always nervous, so I dance with my glasses off.

“But” she said, “I don’t have glasses to take off”
“That’s true”, I replied “but you do have the choice at what you see.”
Sometimes our vision is too “me” focused, and we are overly concerned about what others think of us. In Life as well as in visual arts ministry, we need to set our sights, turn our eyes on Jesus. It’s God that we need to see.

  • Over Committment (0) August 17, 2013

As dance ministers, we can overextend ourselves easily. Accepting every ministry opportunity as if it were the last invitation we would ever receive, and either burning out trying to do everything we committed to, or injuring ourselves with over exertion, or even breaking our word. All of this can be resolved by taking the time to pray before we say yes. Just because we are invited does not mean we need to participate. It is ok to say not at this time, but we are in agreement with the success of your program or venture. True opportunities in ministry, will come again. Our bodies need rest. When we have overextended ourselves, we tend to have more physical injuries. By not over committing ourselves, we allow our bodies to recuperate. And if we must break our word and simply cannot complete the task or participate, own up to it. It is far better to inform the organization or ministry you have committed to that you will not participate, than to be a no show at a dance concert where everyone is a witness to your broken word. If the concert etc, must go on without you, let it be done decently.

  • Morning Exhortation August 16, 2013 (0) August 16, 2013
May you stand, awed in the presence of the Lord. May you be changed by His holiness, transformed by His love, lead by His righteousness, motivated by His sacrifice. For it is by grace we are saved not by works so no one can brag about his own goodness. But we are covered by Christ Jesus. Seen perfected in Him. Walk worthy of His calling. Blessed.
